Our History

Pillarisetti is a Telugu surname with roots in Andhra Pradesh, in South India. It combines two older words — pillari, meaning child or young one, and setti, a title once used for merchants and traders — suggesting the family's earliest bearers worked in trade.

Over generations the name spread beyond commerce into farming, business, and other trades common to the Telugu community. Spelling has drifted over time and distance, showing up as Pillarisetti or Pillarisetty depending on region and dialect.

Twentieth-century migration carried the family from South India to cities across the country and eventually abroad, including the United States. Today the name is less a job title and more a marker of Telugu heritage, carried by families who trace their roots back to that original meaning.
